This amazing machine age electric iron was designed by Harold Van Doren for Westinghouse Electric Company in 1932. It has a striking streamlined design made of black bakelite, ivory plaskon and steel. Van Doren was an early proponent of product designs rendered in plastics that did not attempt to emulate organic materials. Instead they spotlighted the inherent beauty of the actual plastic material. This elegant design is exemplary of that idea. Very good all original condition.
