This is the iconic Air King model 52 “Egyptian” skyscraper radio designed by Harold Van Doren, ca. 1933. This example is in a beautiful mottled brown bakelite with a hand cast replacement Egyptian insert plate in gold and black.
The radio is in overall excellent original condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. There is a very small hairline on the top rear right corner and a tiny factory hole in the right side. This hole was used for the rod “pull start” European electric clock mechanism on export versions that featured a clock. This hole is factory and is less then the size of a pin head. The chassis is clean and complete and not restored. The AK tuning knob is original and the bar knobs are perfect replacements. The top speaker support bars are original.
This is a great opportunity to add this iconic radio to your collection at a reasonable price.
